SOUND

My most personal project to date, SOUND is a book about music and emotion. I began learning to play piano almost as soon as I began learning how to read, and have always found a huge emotional value in music. Whether it's a long-buried memory coming back to the surface or a throwback to a moment just a few months ago, particular music and songs are the keys to many of the most important emotional moments of my life. SOUND was the perfect medium for these memories — a space for me to give them a visual representation that other people could see and garner their own emotions from. With 32 pages in total, I put some of my most important and emotional memories into this 8x10" book, printed it, and bound it by hand. I also assembled a playlist of the songs, so that people could listen along and bring their own interpretations of the music to their experience.

Each internal spread of the book is a visual representation of a particular memory that I associate with that song.

To enhance the experience of flipping through the pages, I built a Spotify playlist for readers to listen along to as they read. Included on the last page of the book, the Spotify code will take readers directly to the playlist, so they can hear the songs for themselves and really feel the emotion of the book.
